WorkWise! makes available to both job seekers and employers a wealth of support from many organizations. Together these organizations can identify the best solutions for your needs all at one convenient location.
The federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 provides the framework for a national workforce preparation and employment system. This system is intended to be customer-focused, and to help Americans access the tools they need to manage their careers. The system is also intended to help companies find the skilled workers they need to compete and succeed in business.
The WIA authorizes and funds a number of employment and training programs on Kaua‘i. These programs help to prepare our people to participate in the workforce by increasing their employment and earnings potential, improving their educational and occupational skills, and, in some cases, reducing their dependency on welfare. Workforce investment activities authorized by WIA are provided to serve two primary customer groups:

Job seekers: including dislocated workers, youth, incumbent workers, and new entrants to the workforce |

Employers: looking for employees and seeking employment resources and information |
WIA Services are provided through a one-stop delivery system called WorkWise!. The WorkWise! One-Stop Job Center provides a full range of services, including employment, training and education services for job seekers. Comprehensive services for employers include resources for placing job orders and obtaining referrals, labor market data, training programs and other employment related assistance.
Some of the organizations participating with WorkWise! include Alu Like, Catholic Charities, State of Hawai‘i Department of Human Services, State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Kaua‘i Community College, Kaua‘i Community School for Adults, Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity, Kaua‘i County Senior Community Service Employment Program, State of Hawai‘i Unemployment Insurance and State of Hawai‘i Workforce Development Division.
